Welcome to the SUT Sub–Saharan Africa Branch

The Sub–Saharan Africa Branch of the Society for Underwater Technology was established to provide a focal point for members of SUT in the West, East, Central, and South Africa Region.
The branch provides all the benefits of SUT Membership, including a programme of local events and publications covering all aspects of Underwater Technology.
Its objective is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and information.
This multidisciplinary learned technical society brings together individuals and organizations with a common interest in Underwater Technology, Ocean Science and Offshore Engineering. It is aimed at engineers, scientist, other professionals and students working in these areas.
Founded in 1966 and headquartered in London with members in more than 40 countries, branches which have been established in Bergen Norway, Aberdeen United Kingdom, Houston in the USA, Rio de Janeiro Brazil, Perth & Melbourne Australia, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and Lagos Nigeria.
Each Branch carries out learned courses and programmes for Members and others who are interested in Subsea Technology and their wide range of other ocean related activities.
The organization has comprehensive expertise within its area of activity, whereby influencing on the development of new techniques and tools to further explore and exploit the world’s oceanic resources.
SUT provides its members with a forum for communication through technical publications, events, branches and specialist interest group. It also provides the registration of specialist subsea engineers, student sponsorship through an educational support fund, careers information and access to reference facilities.
